Future Veterinary Technicians in the Field: Modern Farm Experience

Veterinary associate degree students organized a technical field trip to a dairy farm in the Yoncalı region to combine their theoretical education with practical field experience. During the visit, guided by Instructor Yıdırım ÇELİK, students had the opportunity to learn about the care, health, and management of farm animals on-site. Anatomical knowledge and disease diagnosis methods learned in classrooms were observed in real cases during this trip. Throughout the trip, students gained experience in the following areas:
• Herd Health Management: On-site examination of preventive medicine and vaccination schedules. • Modern Feeding Techniques: Ration preparation processes and housing conditions suitable for animal welfare. • Examination Techniques: Simulations of general health checks in cattle and small ruminants. • Biosecurity: Observation of critical measures taken to prevent disease spread in a farm.
Instructor Yıdırım ÇELİK Yıldırım ÇELİK stated, "These kinds of trips accelerate our students' adaptation to professional life after graduation. Seeing the practical application of information from books in a living organism increases their professional self-confidence." Our professional trips will continue. Students also had the opportunity to chat with farm veterinarians and technicians, asking questions about the expectations of the sector and working conditions. The event concluded with a group photo session.
