After the 2000s in Turkey, revolutionary studies were carried out in higher education. The fact that revolutionary studies have been carried out in the field of higher education in a country is directly related to the great meaning attributed to the role of universities in the future perspective of that country. Because the fact shows that the nations that met the bright side of science will continue to be included in the category of developed societies, while societies that have turned their backs on science will remain only as extras in history.
Science houses have been the founding element of civilizations and the driving force in the development and development of states since ancient times. In this sense, the most important representative office of the modern period is undoubtedly the universities. Universities have become indispensable institutions for the society and humanity they serve, through the knowledge they produce, the technology they develop, and the human resources they train.
In parallel with the value given to universities in our country, the opening of a university in each province, and sometimes even one or more universities, necessitated some measures to be taken in order to prevent the haphazard structuring of these educational institutions. In fact, the Presidency of the Higher Education Institution, which has come to the fore with the slogan of New YÖK in the last period, has taken many steps towards these measures. However, one of the most important decisions among these steps, in my opinion, is the establishment of an independent Quality Board.
The Quality Board, with its independent structure from YÖK, 'evaluates' universities and while making this assessment, it takes into account the unique goals of the universities as the main criterion. The Board, which makes important determinations about what academic and administrative studies have been carried out in order to achieve these goals, and the level of education quality in accordance with the student-centered university concept, makes various recommendations to universities in line with these determinations.
Muş Alparslan University, which was established on May 27, 2007, in the mid-2000s, when we witnessed the historical days when new universities were not established and universities were newly established, is a science center that does not give up on its aim of responding to the expectations of the province, then the region and the country, being aware of the historical mission it has undertaken. The transformation of studies that care about quality in higher education from verbal expressions to concrete steps in recent years, and in this context, the studies that both bring current problems to the agenda and have future perspectives have increased the chances of success of structures that have idealism but do not put aside being realistic.
Our young science home, which consisted of only a few units in 2007, is a higher education institution that has made a name for itself in the region with 10 faculties, 2 institutes, 6 vocational schools and 16 research centers. Our university, which provides education in an indoor area of 220,000 square meters with a total of 691 academic staff, of which 13000 students and 314 faculty members, and has a serious position among its peers, is capable of successfully passing the quality monitoring processes.
I would like to present my respects with the hope that the quality studies carried out in the previous period will be reviewed and discussed in this process what has been accomplished and what has not been fully fulfilled, with the hope that the quality studies will bring goodness to our university and our province.
