Vocational School Students Receive Mountaineering Training

Second-year students from the Emergency and Disaster Management program and other departments at Muş Alparslan University Bulanık Vocational School, thanks to the initiative of our Head of Department, Lecturer Mesut Koç, received "Basic and Advanced Sport Climbing Training" as licensed athletes within the Muş Mountaineering Club. Our advanced training, held between May 18-22, 2026, was successfully completed. During the training, our student athletes learned:

Basic knot knowledge and safety systems,
Introduction and use of equipment in sport climbing,
Belaying and lead fall techniques,
Clip techniques and correct rope use,
Climbing techniques, balance and footwork exercises,
Route reading and movement planning,
Advanced lead climbing applications,
Fall factor, safety and risk management,
Conditioning, coordination and endurance exercises,
Sports ethics, discipline and teamwork. Our Head of Department stated that summer mountaineering training is also planned for the upcoming period. He expressed his gratitude to our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, our Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. İrşad Sami YUCA, our Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Yusuf Kılıç, and Mehmet Çağlayan, a member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Mountaineering Federation, for their support.
