Experience Sharing at Bulanık Vocational School: Paralympic National Athlete Sedat Güneş Meets with Social Work Students
As part of the "Thinking Beyond Boundaries I – Experience Sharing Event" organized by the Social Work and Counseling Department of Muş Alparslan University's Bulanık Vocational School, Paralympic national athlete Sedat Güneş met with social work students in a session titled "The Art of Overcoming Obstacles." In the event, coordinated by the Head of the Social Work and Counseling Department, Lecturer Dr. Bekir Altıok, Güneş shared how he overcame obstacles in his family, education, and sports life, within the framework of fundamental social work concepts such as disability, empowerment, social participation, and equal opportunity. Touching upon the difficulties faced by individuals with disabilities in social life, the speaker emphasized the importance of supportive approaches and social sensitivity. Following the presentation, students asked Sedat Güneş questions about topics they were curious about. At the end of the event, Dr. Bekir Altıok thanked Paralympic national athlete Sedat Güneş for his contributions and presented him with a certificate of appreciation. Altıok stated that the aim of the "Thinking Beyond Borders" series is to convey the social life experiences of disadvantaged groups to students through individuals who have actually experienced these things, and added that the event will continue in the coming weeks with participants from different disadvantaged groups.
