The Turkish Education Model Conference was Held in Bulanık with Large Participation
Organized by MAUN Bulanık Vocational School, the Bulanık District Directorate of National Education, and the Public Education Center, the Turkish Education Model Conference, themed "Unity and Solidarity Within the Family," was held at the Bulanık Youth Center with a large turnout. The conference attracted considerable interest from a wide range of stakeholders, from academics and educators to civil society representatives and families.
The opening event emphasized the importance of the family as a cornerstone of society and emphasized the supportive nature of the new Turkish Education Model for a strong family structure.
Prof. Dr. İrşad Sami Yuca: "The History of the Family is the History of Social Identity"
The conference's first speaker, Prof. Dr. İrşad Sami Yuca, comprehensively addressed the transformations the family has undergone throughout history. Yuca stated that the family is not merely a biological unity but a deeply rooted institution that shapes the cultural memory and social fabric of societies, saying, “Throughout history, the family has been one of the most powerful building blocks shaping the identity, values, and resilience of societies.”
Metin Bostancı: “The Family is at the Center of the New Turkey Education Model” Next, District Public Education Center Director Metin Bostancı spoke, explaining the fundamental approach of the New Turkey Education Model. Bostancı emphasized that the educational process is not limited to the school walls and that families are active stakeholders in this model. “Success in education will be possible through strengthening school-family collaboration,” Bostancı said, sharing the holistic family-centered structure of the new model with the attendees.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdualim Demir: “Love and Empathy Are the Two Fundamental Values That Support the Family” Another speaker at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdualim Demir, explained the importance of love and empathy in maintaining domestic peace with examples from hadith. Demir stated that family members' efforts to understand each other directly contribute to social peace, saying, "The Prophet's family behavior is based on love, compassion, and understanding."
Dr. Mehmet Fığan: "Unconscious Use of Digital Tools Undermines Family Communication" The final speaker of the program, Dr. Mehmet Fığan, assessed the effects of digitalization on family life. Pointing out that increased screen time, especially among children and young people, can weaken family communication, Fığan said, "Media literacy and digital awareness have become fundamental requirements for maintaining family relationships."
The conference was enriched with question-and-answer sessions, and participants shared various suggestions for strengthening family structures. At the end of the event, a statement released on behalf of the regulatory bodies stated that the conference had achieved its objective and that similar efforts would continue in Bulanık.
