The Environmental Health and Environmental Risk Management Program opened within our Vocational School aims to train expert technical staff in the fields of environmental health protection and environmental risk management.
The program, which aims to contribute to the qualified manpower needs in the public and private sectors in line with Turkey's sustainable development goals, is structured in a way that will provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Within the scope of the program consisting of four semesters; versatile courses on environmental health such as ecology, microbiology, environmental legislation, air, water and soil pollution, hazardous waste management and recycling systems are given. In addition, students have the opportunity to actively practice in the field thanks to the compulsory internship worth 8 ECTS in the 4th semester.
Graduates of the program can be employed in Provincial and District Health Directorates, environmental protection units of municipalities, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, environmental consultancy firms, Joint Health and Safety Units (OSGB) and private institutions providing waste management services.
The program, designed in accordance with international standards, emphasizes field-based learning and interdisciplinary approach, similar to environmental health trainings in Canada, the USA, France and Scotland. The Vocational School, which is developing application laboratories, aims to provide students with practical experience through field studies conducted with collaborating institutions.
In his statement on the subject, Bulanık Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. İrşad Sami Yuca said, "We would like to thank our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, who pioneered the implementation of this program in Bulanık district and who supported us at every stage of the process. Thanks to the visionary approach of our Rectorate and the value it places on education, our district has achieved an important academic gain that trains qualified technical personnel in the field of environment."
