The tour program titled “Technical Trip: Van Yuzuncu Yil University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine” was held

On May 08, 2025, students of the Bulanik Vocational School Department of Veterinary Medicine, Laboratory and Veterinary Health Program organized a technical trip to Van Yuzuncu Yil University. Within the scope of the technical trip, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Hospital, Wild Animals Protection and Rehabilitation Center and Van Cat Villa were visited.
Practical Training Visit from Students
The 22 students who participated in the technical trip first attended the clinical and laboratory practices carried out at the Veterinary Hospital within the Van Yuzuncu Yil University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Lecturer Ömer Faruk KELEŞ from the Department of Pathology of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine made presentations and practices to the students about observing veterinary practices on site and gaining professional experience in the field.

The presentations and examinations made in the Veterinary Pathology unit were quite informative for the students. In the pathology laboratory, detailed information was provided about the microscopic diagnosis process of tissue samples taken from animals, histopathological examination methods and the role of pathology in disease diagnosis. The students directly observed the evaluation of pathological findings and the examination of tissue preparations.
Examination at the Wild Animals Center
Following the faculty tour, the Wild Animals Protection and Rehabilitation Center was visited. In the examinations made under the guidance of the Wild Animals Protection and Rehabilitation Center Director Prof. Dr. Loğman ASLAN, detailed information was provided about the treatment, care and rehabilitation processes of wild animals. The students had the opportunity to closely examine the practices at the center and make observations about different species.
Opportunity to Meet Van Cats
Another stop of the technical tour was the Van Cat Research and Application Center, known as the Van Cat Villa, within the university. Here, the students received information about the studies aimed at preserving the genetic structure of Van cats, their care and breeding processes. Students had the opportunity to learn directly about this special breed by observing Van cats in their natural habitat.

Professional and Social Development Together
Following the application and observation tours, the students participated in a short-term social and cultural tour in Van province and the university campus. During the tour, both the professional knowledge of the students was increased and their social aspects were contributed to.
Accompanying the technical tour, Dr. Lecturer Abdulbaki DEMİR, Head of the Veterinary Department, stated that such activities provide an important opportunity for students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge in practice and to get to know different fields of work on site.
