Disaster Training for Our Students in Muş
Muş Alparslan University Bulanık Vocational School Emergency and Disaster Management Program 2nd year students successfully completed the disaster awareness and intervention trainings held between May 5-10. In the training program organized under the leadership of Department Head Instructor Mesut Koç, students received practical trainings on fire, first aid and search and rescue in cooperation with Muş Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate (AFAD). The trainings provided critical skills such as what to do in disaster situations, equipment usage and coordination.
The program ended with mountaineering training given by Melek Karataş, Sports Climbing Coach of the Turkish Mountaineering Federation (TDF). Karataş practically taught students basic climbing techniques, rope knot types, belaying methods and safe movement strategies on rock surfaces, which are vital in search and rescue operations.
Students who successfully completed the trainings were entitled to receive certificates in a total of 11 different fields as a result of the theoretical and practical courses they took. These certificates will document students’ professional skills in disaster and emergency management, providing them with a significant advantage in their post-graduation careers.
Department Head Lecturer Mesut Koç stated that such programs will be further diversified through interdisciplinary collaboration and will offer students advanced certification opportunities in the field of disaster management.
