A Meaningful Initiative at Bulanık Vocational School in Collaboration with the Turkish Red Crescent: Fostering Social Awareness and a Blood Donation Drive
Bulanık Vocational School organized a comprehensive event in partnership with the Turkish Red Crescent (Türk Kızılay) to enhance social awareness and strengthen students' understanding of disaster management and social responsibility.
The program, centered on academic and social responsibility, consisted of two main phases. In the first part, experts from the Turkish Red Crescent delivered an informative training session and presentation for the students. During this well-attended session, topics such as disaster management, immediate responses during crises, the importance of a culture of social solidarity, and the critical role of the Turkish Red Crescent in humanitarian aid efforts were discussed. This theoretical session, which saw active participation from the students, allowed for the integration of disaster preparedness awareness with an academic perspective.
In the second phase, theoretical knowledge was translated into practical action through a blood donation campaign organized in collaboration with the Turkish Red Crescent. At donation points set up within the classrooms and common areas of Bulanık Vocational School, the school administration, faculty members, and students demonstrated a strong sense of social responsibility by donating blood.
The high level of engagement shown by the young people—driven by a sense of social responsibility—created a vibrant and meaningful atmosphere at the donation site. Serving as an excellent example of university-community collaboration, the event contributed to the development of students not only in their professional and academic pursuits but also as individuals equipped with a deep sense of humanitarian and moral responsibility. The program concluded with the taking of commemorative photographs and the expression of gratitude to all participants.
